pedis!!!

Korra had her first pedicure Tuesday! Loved every moment I got to spend with this lady doing something so grown up!!!

Korra and mommy getting their toenails done.

Look at those feet..so cute! Anyway the funniest thing about the whole adventure was when a man walked into the salon, and Korra leans into me and says, "boys don't get their toes done."
Love it.

24 hours in the car!

So just how do we plan to take a 20-24 hour road trip with a three and five year old? I am not quite sure, but do know we did it with a 1 and 3 year old...could it get worse?
Here are a few ideas I have:
First I am giving each child a roll of quarters. Each time they whine they will be giving me a quarter. What they do not use will be theirs to spend in Florida! I am guessing this is going to be more exciting for Malachi considering Korra could care less about money.....that will change..lol!
I saw an idea similar to this on pinterest where she made her own seek and find bottles for sight words. Since we are working on number/letter recognition with both kids I thought this would be a great way to get some learning time in! Just colored some rice with food coloring by placing them in a mason jar with vinegar (my new favorite everything...more on that later) and let them set for a few minutes. Drained and laid out on a paper bag to dry.
Of course we have plenty of snacks packed....
A few dollar store trinkets.
I have been saving these magnet dolls that Korra got for her birthday for this trip. I am taking a cookie sheet with so she can lay them out and they will stick to it! They can also use the bendaroos (I found a brand new box at goodwill for 1.00) on the sheet.

I plan on cutting these and adding magnets during the trip as well!
Another great tip I heard just the other day was when you stop to eat let the kids run around and you eat. Then let them eat in the car afterwards...genius!

Hope fully with these few things, leapster explorer, and the dvd player we will be all set!

Can't catch me

Friday night was a mad mess of pipe cleaners, glue, felt, boxes, streamers, and more glue as we prepared leprechaun traps with some friends of ours. Instead of finding a leprechaun when we woke up we found footprints in our leprechaun hotel (as Malachi referred to it), green toliet water, and green milk with lucky charms.
The footprints
Malachi's trap
Korrayah's trap

A new tradition...Meyerings?
Funny thing: this morning Malachi had to call his friend Gavin as soon as he woke up to see if he caught a leprechaun! Love it! Love friends that we can do these things with and love that my children were up way earlier than normal just to see if we caught a leprechaun..oh to be a kid!

Dinner outside

Love Love Love this weather!! The 70's for March! The kids could hardly wait to eat outside on our new deck, and Dan could hardly wait to use his new grill!
So what's for dinner: Malachi's favorite- fish ( I know strange right?) along with strawberries, potatoes, and salad...just a few of my favorites too! Anyway I love this easy way to make fish: put the fish on a piece of tin foil add butter and any seasonings (garlic, lemon pepper, seasoning salt, etc) wrap in tin foil and cook for about 5 minutes! Yum!!!
Enjoying Spring already and it doesn't officially start for a few days~

I am the mom

I am the mom who often feels overwhelmed with daily life
I am the mom who is scared something may happen to the people I love
I am the mom who often gets frustrated
I am the mom who yells sometimes
I am the mom who cries sometimes
I am the mom who has a dirty mini van
I am the mom who needs encouragement
I am the mom who likes a clean house
I am the mom who wants "good" children

I am the mom who needs to know what she does do right!

I am the mom who takes time to build snow forts
I am the mom who kisses often
I am the mom who smiles
I am the mom who helps
I am the mom who prays
I am the mom who reads
I am the mom who gives up her treats to see a smile
I am the mom who sacrifices a good lunch for a happy meal
I am the mom that knows my kid's are not perfect but treasured in the eyes of God!
I am the mom that tries to create lasting memories with the people I love!

Sometimes I feel like my skills at a mom are cut short, but I am reminded that God gives us our little people because we are the parents he picked for them! Not only so we can teach them, but so they can teach us! Teach us to be humble learners and seekers of God's word..knowing we need it to make it through daily life as a mom!

Countdown begins

The sliding glass door off our dining room is always filled with kid art of sorts, but for the month of March something special is covering our door.
Malachi and I carefully counted out just how many days before Florida and tada our new countdown. I am finding all kinds of uses for these old calendars! 25 more days to get off the fast track of life and do some vacationing!
