We love you "snow" much

Last year we spent a few Friday nights with another family doing some random acts of kindness. This year we are continuing that tradition, and adding some acts of kindness to our everyday life. While I am not putting anything on the calendar, I am keeping my eyes out for opportunities to bless someone else. So today while making snowmen outside with the kiddos before school I had a great idea on how to bless one very special lady in our life. After school, we loaded in the car and headed down the road to my granny's house. She works on Monday nights so I knew we had some time. We left her with these little creatures and a special little note.

Calendar fun

Malachi is obsessed with calendar time at school..he says it is his favorite thing to do at school. I think that is mainly due to weather bear. (this was the weather bear he made for our "school")

Anyway when Dan came home with a giant 2011 calendar he got from one of the guys at work I knew chi would be excited, but seriously! Anyway after reading my parenting magazine I got inspired. One of the mom tips was an old calendar used to help her son learn how to write the letters by tracing the numbers and then trying to write them in the empty spaces. So we got the calendars out and went to work. Of course I had to find one for Korra too! Once we started we had all kind of ideas counting with the counting hand, making patterns with the squares, and just coloring in the boxes.

snow day

As a mom, I still love snow days! The weather is beautiful and I have two little ones to enjoy it with. Our day was spent with no agenda, but plenty to do.
We practiced tying shoes...this tasks seems unending, but dying half of the shoelace (with food coloring and water) seems to be somewhat helping-any tips?
Of course we spent some time playing in the snow-what is a snow day with-out sledding. This is always short lived for us, because someone always has cold hands. A warm bath helped with the cold hands.
A game of candyland, guess who, and bumble bees had to be done.
and last but not least we need naps after all that excitement!
side note-at bath time today Malachi and Korra took turns baptizing each other....love it~! I had to break it up after Chi spent several seconds baptizing Korra - I had to explain to him the goal was not to drown her, but to save her-ha!

Happy Birthday Sweet"heart"

We celebrated Korra's birthday Sunday night sweetheart style! Hearts lined our house. Lasagne, mac and cheese, apples and dip, and carrots and dip were served! A special cake made by none other than Aunt Angie (check out her new blog to see more of her specialties and order one of your own).

Grandpa and Grandma C found this great string pinatta (each child pulls a string vs hitting it) and had to get one for Korra's party. The kids always love candy!

Can't forget the presents! We are so blessed to have family to be able to celebrate these special days with us!

Pieces and parts spread across our living room as the designer himself carefully put together this special bed in the right location.

Hard to believe in two short hours viola! A bed on wheels. A bed made with lots of hard-work and love! A bed fit for our princess herself!
All the little details make this bed even more special; the artist paint job, the bench for a book shelve, the toy box in the back, the stairs that go in and out, the lights that light up the inside of this bed and light the front, the wheels which were hand-made, the fabric hand-picked, and the decal that goes on the wall so it looks like the carriage is headed to the castle!
Happiness! Pure happiness! Thank-you Grandpa and his special delivery team (Uncle Matt, Grandpa great, Aunt April, G-ma, especially Maci!)

Three

(once they turn three I interview them as part of their scrapbook..this was Korra's first year and there were no surprises in her answers...she is so confident in who she is ...I love that about her!)
THREE really? I can't believe she is three! I can't even tell you how much I love this little girl! She is the funny one in our family! She is always making us laugh! I love her just the way she is! I would do anything to freeze time, but also look forward to lots of great time together as friends!

Snowmen

This has been the perfect week for snowman building! Our yard is full of these little creatures! Even though I am not much for going out in the snow...the weather is warm enough that I am not freezing making winter outside time more enjoyable! We go out to wait for the bus a little early all dressed ready to build and we have been able to put together four snowmen of large size, and we are working on making them a igloo. Although I am afraid the sun may melt them away in the next few days as Chi said we can always make them again and again and again...we do live in Michigan!
Side note- to continue our new found love for snowmen we have been putting together our digital snowmen on starfall...enjoy!

2012- a new journey!

Geared up and ready for the journey ahead!

I enter 2012 with no specific goals at hand, but with a new outlook. I enter 2012 with hope, but not expectations. I enter 2012 with excitement, but anticipation.
Dan and I have decided to take on a family challenge. One we know God will have to lead us in. We are in the process of becoming licensed to foster. We have intentions to adopt, but our main intention is to be Jesus to any and all the children that may come into our home. While the next year and years to come may be challenging we know with God all things are possible and truly believe this is the direction God is leading us.
While this will be also challenging for our little people it will be a great learning opportunity for them as well. We pray for their little hearts through-out this process, but know they are far more equipped then we are! Malachi would love to fill up this house with children...(7 in fact was his number - lol). While I will not be able to post too much information we would appreciate your prayers as we dive into this mission!
