a hunting we will go
Last week before school we went outside with intentions of collecting a few leaves for: counting, sorting, and reseaching. While we did a little of that Malachi decided it was such a perfect morning for some hunting. We got out his little bow and sat by the tree. I couldn't believe his patience! He was determined to find a squirrel. So this weekend while we were at the cabin, Grandpa K spent a lot of time getting Malachi ready to hunt with the big guys here in a few weeks. Malachi helped Grandpa build this tree stand:

loads and loads
I received loads and
loads of fabric (five boxes to be exact) from my grandma who said she needed to get rid of some (I'd say!). Anyway in order to put some of this to good use I needed to get crafty so here is what I've done:

This little banner that will be strung from my mantel at Valentine's day. It also may make an apperance at some little sweet"hearts" 3rd birthday along with the skirt below.

Of course a pillow case dress and many more of these to come.. ....

Korra needed a closet door, but a curtain will certainly do.

princess girl
After three straight post on Malachi I owed it to little pants to make a post just for her. So here it is!
I have been loving sharing a little time with her each day while Malachi is at school. She is so funny!!! The other day while walking through family fare (after she dropped her bag of popcorn and her little special drink the sample lady gave her...yes she is my daughter...walking tornado) she started singing at the top of her lungs these very words, "I am a princess girl, yes I am a princess girl." Cracked me up... we never refer to her as the princess...partially b/c there is no need she already thinks she is one apparently.

During the same visit to the store she also said to me several times, " Chi is going to miss me so much while he is at school..he is going to say Korra I missed you so much." Yes we need to work on humility with this one! Did you notice her shirt says brother for sale...she calls this her funny shirt. Malachi and Korra either get along great or they fight like crazy. I am sure this is true for most siblings, but sometimes their bickering drives me crazy! They both have that bossy sassiness about them (not sure where that came from).

Finally Friday!
It has only been three days and we are ready for a weekend! Malachi loves school, but his comment on Wednesday after school summed up my feelings about this school thing!
Malachi came in the door chatting away about snack, a crying kid on the bus, a not so good listener, recess, etc. He sat at the island eating his kissing hand and then they came......tears....ahhh!!!
"Mom, I have to go everyday I am never going to be able to play with you again," he cried.
(oh buddy I was doing so well ... only a few tears when you left today...now you turn on the faucet for mom)
I went on to tell him about all the time we will spend together before school, after school, weekends, holidays, and summer!!!! I won't even think about the possibility of him going all day next year nope....I am going to focus only on the few short hours he is gone this year.
Then to help him ease his feelings we spent the time before dinner playing candyland and memory..perfect way to end the first day of school..one on one time with mom!

ready?
This cookie cutter will be used to make his after school snack (peanut butter cookie with a hersey kiss) based on the book, The Kissing Hand by Audrey Penn. The book will be the perfect bedtime story the night before his first day. Inside the cover we will write down what malachi wants to be when he grows up (inspired by a friend). The tube of frosting will be used to write his school grade on his pancakes for his first day breakfast. Galations 5:22 and 23 will is written on the card that I will place in his backpack for our verse of the year (one will be hanging on our fridge, one in Korra's diaper bag/bedroom, and one at daddy's work) reminding us to be all the fruits of the spirit!
