Happy Grand "mother's" day

I stayed up not cleaning, not exploring the internet, not feeding the baby, not working on my to do list, but playing a simple hand (or two or 12) of cards. A hand of cards with someone who has played many different hands, and not just cards. The hand of the poor, the hand of a adventurous child, the hand of the teenage daughter, the hand of a young mother, the hand of a caretaker, the hand of a widowed wife, the hand of a single mother, and the hand of a working mother, the hand of a grandma, the hand of a great-grandma, and the hand of so much else.

As we played, she shared. She shared the darkness, she shared the joy, she shared the strength, she shared.
I listened. I am always surprised by what someone goes through in a life time. It is easy to just see her as my grandma, but she is so much more. A picture of strength, a picture of life, a picture of faith. Happy Mother's day to a women whom draws strength from the future not the past!
