Monsters in the covers, noises in the store, shadows on the wall, and everything in between. A few weeks back while roaming through some stores we came upon a rather large pirate toy (6-7 feet) that talked. Malachi was petrified and almost took my eye out as he tried to grab onto me for safety. Since then we have had several occasions where he has been more than just scared. While walking through Target he heard a toy and jumped (or rather leaped) into the cart. The hardest part of this phase or drama is at night. When he finally falls asleep he wakes several times crying out to us. This is causing a lot of sleepless nights and frustration at our house. Bless my husband as he has spent several nights in bed with our child. We have had several people give us ideas, and we have been trying them out. One was to get rid of all the monsters..so yesterday Dan and chi went through his room raiding it of any monsters. Another piece of advice was to pray over him and a friend gave me a great scripture verse. So now our nightly routine is getting rid of the monsters and a prayer for sweet sleep (Proverbs 3:24..."When Malachi lies down, he will not be afraid; When Malachi lies down. his sleep will be sweet!" Amen!!!!).
I find myself getting so frustrated sometimes with his fret of everything...thinking give me a break it is a shadow or a toy, mommy and daddy are right here. Today I was reminded of God's patience with us as we too often fret and worry about the small stuff....I am sure God laughs about the little things that bring fear to us...saying I am right here no need to fear!!!!
